Drupal 7 Testdrive (GUI)
This appliance is based on the Drupal 7 Testdrive appliance and provides a LAMP stack (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) to perform a GUI-based Drupal test installation, currently based on Drupal 7.0 final. The GUI is based on a basic GNOME desktop and the Mozilla Firefox web browser.
The database backend is MySQL 5.1, with the InnoDB plugin and strict mode enabled.
phpMyAdmin has been added to support web-based administration of the MySQL server. You can access it via http://localhost/phpMyAdmin/
drush , the Drupal command line shell and scripting interface is included, too.
Simply boot the appliance (e.g. in VMware or VirtualBox), choose your keyboard layout and go through Time Zone selection. The appliance will automatically start up a graphical desk top and web browser to perform the Drupal installation and configuration. The network configuration is done via NetworkManager.
MySQL has been pre-configured, there is an empty database named “drupal” and a user “drupal” with the same password to access it. Just enter this information in the Drupal Database configuration dialogue.
The following system/user accounts have been set up – make sure to change the passwords to something less predictable:
- The Linux root user uses “root” as the password. No other user account has been set up.
- The MySQL root account has no password.

Looks promising. Are you working on 11.4 based version?
When i boot from cd image, all the text is in squares ([]), like orb said.
Hi,
I’ve downloaded both the OVF and XEN virtual machines, but have tremendous difficulty unpacking them. All i get is error messages after downloading (after which the files appear to be just fine). The .GZ opens just fine, but the TAR within then appears to be corrupt.
Tried 7-Zip, PeaZip, and UnRar (all latest versions), using Windows 7 on NTFS formatted HD’s. But i just get stuck there, can’t even import the VM’s to my XenServer.
Is there anyone has similar experiences, or anyone that can offer any help?
Thanks!
I have been trying to get Drupal 7 to work on my provider Windows hosting box/server for days now.. still not working. But I found this and loaded it up and WHAM – works great. Now I see Drupal 7, yay! Thank you for putting this demo distro together.
BTW.. whats the user/pass for phpMyAdmin?
lol nvm.. I got it.. drupal/drupal
