User Interface Designer
SUSE Studio is looking for an expert in user interface design, preferably someone with strong web skills and a background in the graphic arts. Even better are candidates familiar with Linux and open source software, especially Inkscape.
You take pride in making software pleasant and empowering people through your user-focused designs. In addition, you work well with programmers, and together make designs a reality.
Responsibilities
- Think of the needs of users
- Brainstorm concepts
- Sketch wireframes and roughs
- Make quick mockups to illustrate ideas
- Produce refined mockups to display details
Qualifications
- Has a focus to make excellent software for people to use
- Strong sense of design
- Dedication to quality
- Focused on results
- Appreciates an autonomous work style
- Works well with a team of software developers
- Understanding of illustration software
- Not afraid to sketch UIs, even if simply using pencils and paper
- Detail-oriented while maintaining a clear view of the big picture
- Strong communication skills
- Continual thirst for learning
Desirables
- Familiarity with open source software, including Linux
- Knowledge of Inkscape
- Great understanding of client-side Web technologies
- Located in the Nürnberg or Prague areas, or are willing to relocate
